INFORMATION
REGARDING CHILDREN AT STANFORD
HOSTEL
Thank you for
the interest taken in our
children and their
circumstances. Should further
information be required do not
hesitate to contact us.
Resident at
our Hostel are 58 learners
between the ages of 7 and
15years.
Finances
comes from parents paying the
hostel fees, (5 parents paying
full amount of R900/term and a
further 6 paying as money comes
available), 33 parents getting
a %subsidy from the WCED
(Western Cape Education
Department), 7 parents failed to
complete the application form
for subsidy and are not able to
pay, we continue to try and
track them down, 7 parents do
not qualify for subsidy but also
do not have the finances to pay.
Fifteen (15)
children were placed in the
hostel by the Department of
Welfare with the specific need
of a safe environment. Thirty
eight (38) children are from
single parents homes and five
(5) from homes where both
parents are working. Culturally
we have 36 white children, 12
black children and 11 brown
children.
All children
attend the local primary school.
The management of the hostel
falls under the supervision of
the School principal, Ms A. van
Tonder, a Superentendent, Ms R.
du Preez, and hostel parents,
Mr. G. Geldenhuys and Ms. A.
Geldenhuys with four staff
members, Ms D. Taute, Ms S.
Robyn, Ms N. Philander and Ms M.
Andreas.
At our hostel
we work towards developing our
children to their full potential
in order to give to society
happy, well balanced individuals
who will contribute to, and not
draw from society.
